Brain Injury 101: Now What?
I have been quiet as of late. No writing, few posts on FB and none on Instagram. To say the least, I am discouraged as to the path our nation is taking. And I ask myself, “now what?” Is there hope for healing? Is there hope for truth? And I have to say to myself, “Yes there is, but the hope is not in men, but in the Lord God of the Universe. The One True God – Jesus Messiah.” He is our Truth, our Hope and the Way to continue on.
The aftermath of a TBI or SCI
Just as many of us continue on in in the aftermath of our TBIs or spinal cord injury, so too, must we as a nation continue on in the aftermath of our recent history. I liken this time to a “national traumatic brain injury.” And I have stated before, I believe the only way to move forward is to allow Jesus to heal us. Be renewed by the Word of God as found in the Bible.
Celebrations?
The God of Heaven came down. We celebrated His birth just over a month ago. And in just two months, we will celebrate His resurrection. In Him we can have our movement, and our being and life. In Him, will we find hope in the face of national tyranny and continued lockdown due to this “planned-demic.”
Bad things happen. BUT GOD. Just as He brought good out of Joseph’s slavery in Egypt (Genesis 39-50), so too, will He bring good out of our situations, IF we trust Him. He is the ONLY One we can truly trust.
Follow these instructions:
So, what next? Gird yourself with the Truth of the Living God; put on the breastplate of righteousness (His, not ours); put on the shoes to prepare to share the Gospel of Peace; take up of the shield of faith with which to extinguish the flaming arrows of evil shot to harm us; put on the helmet of salvation and take up the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. And pray at all times, with perseverance for the saints of the Living God. (my paraphrase from Ephesians 6:14-18)
Conclusion:
These are trying times for all of us, whether you suffer from a TBI or are the caregiver for one such person. We must be strong and courageous. When told these words by GOD in Joshua 1, Joshua was afraid. It’s okay to feel fear, just don’t let it hold you hostage. Faith overcomes fear. Exercise your faith and walk forth in the courage of the Living GOD and allow Him to rewire your mind – for your good and His glory.
